Extremely Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Presentation Bank with Applied Decoration and Bird Finial, Inscribed "Bertie", probably Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA, late 19th century, ovoid bank with footed base, carved horizontal slot, and tall finial surmounted by a hand-modeled and applied figure of a bird. Body of bank decorated with applied clay grape vine, dogwood blossom, and daisy motifs. Cobalt highlights to bird finial and applied decoration. Front of bank incised with the cobalt-highlighted name, "Bertie". Professional restoration to head, neck, and tail of bird. Otherwise excellent condition with a small chip to base of finial and a minor nick to slot. H 5 3/4".
