Four-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug with New York City Advertising, New York State origin, circa 1840, ovoid jug with tapered spout, impressed with the cobalt-highlighted advertising, "PRALL & RAY, / DRUGGISTS / NO. 83. MAIDEN LANE / NEW YORK". Decorated below with a brushed cobalt tulip featuring a looping stem. Restoration to a very large reglued section on side of jug. Thin crack through handle. Spout chips. Small, shallow chips to bottom edge, most or all of which appears to be in-the-firing. A glazed-over ping near base on reverse.
