Scarce Glazed Redware Harvest Jug, attributed to Jacob Medinger, Limerick Township, Montgomery County, PA, early 20th century, ovoid form with footed base, heavily-ribbed circular handle, and applied wide and narrow spout. Surface decorated with heavy manganese sponging and covered in a clear lead glaze. Unusual and appealing form. Pencil inscription on underside reads "Mettinger July 5 33". Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market example, from a Pennsylvania collection amassed during the mid 20th century. Essentially as-made condition with a glazed-over inverted T-shaped line at base and a glazed-over line at top. H 10".
