Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Large Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "NICHOLS & BOYNTON. / BURLINGTON, VT", circa 1856-1859, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a vine bearing a fan-shaped blossoms, dotted leaf, and curled trails. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Provenance: David Musser Collection. Restoration to spout. Some surface abrasions and firing flaws. A short hairline near base on reverse. Some shallow chipping to base.
