Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Balimore, MD origin, circa 1825, cylindrical jar with footed base, squared rim, and applied tab handles, decorated on the front and reverse with a brushed swag and hanging tulip motif above a horizontal band of tulips. Brushed cobalt band around base. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A curved line of cobalt with dash at center underneath each handle. Good decoration, excellent color, and unusual cylindrical form. Excellent condition with a small, possibly in-the-firing, chip to end of one handle and a minor in-the-firing chip to base.
