Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "CORTLAND," Madison Woodruff and Romanzo Smith, Cortland, NY, circa 1867-1869, semi-ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and flared spout, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a tulip with spotted blossoms and leaves. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Two spout chips and a tight 2 1/4" surface line to shoulder.
