Stump-Form Stoneware Birth Bank with Bird's Nest Finial, Incised "I.L.W. / January 23rd / 1892," probably English, ovoid bank in the form of a knotted tree stump with knots and finial in the form of a bird's nest with four eggs. Surface covered in a brown slip with Bristol slip highlights and cobalt accents to incising and bird's nest. Very nice condition with an in-the-firing chip to finial, a minor nick to slot, and a minor chip to underside, presumably in-the-firing. H 5 1/2".
