Scarce Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Flower Basket Decoraton, Stamped "J.A. & C.W. UNDERWOOD / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1865-1867, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a basket with large floral spray embellished with dotted and curled trails. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Essentially as-made condition with some fry to cobalt as well as iron pings to body of crock, including a 3/4" ping to right side of decoration and a 1 1/2" ping at base on reverse.
