Fine Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1855, ovoid pitcher with footed base and tooled rim, decorated with a large brushed flowering plant including tulips, buds, and heavily-leaved stems. Additional swag decorations to the left and right. Collar decorated with hanging tulips. Spout decorated with inverted swags. Base of handle decorated with highly unusual hanging tulip decoration. Excellent size and strong decoration. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a minor glazed-over chip on interior of spout.
