Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Midwestern origin, mid 19th century, ovoid jug with tooled spout, decorated with a boldly-brushed tulip plant, featuring dotted accents to the blossom and leaves. 1 1/4" piece of clay adhered to jug near base. Chip to leaf on right side of decoration. 6" spidering line to side of jug at shoulder. 1 1/4" U-shaped line to shoulder on opposite side of jug. Chipping to spout. Some in-the-firing dryness to surface on reverse and side.
