One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Wren Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT, circa 1855, cylindrical jug with thick, semi-squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a small bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark. 1/2" hole on side of jug. Heavy crazing to body. 1 1/4" line on underside, continuing 1 1/4" up side of jug.
