Large-Sized Sewertile Figure of an Owl, American, second quarter 19th century, molded figure of an owl perched on a stump, the head with heavily-incised feather detail, the stump with incised bark and cut ends. Surface covered in reddish-brown Albany slip glaze. Excellent size and form. Large crack extending from head of owl to tail and up reverse to opposite side of head. 1" shallow chip to underside of tail along crack line. Small chip to wing along crack line. Two minor base nicks. H 12 3/4".
