Rare One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Face Decoration, Stamped "W.A. MACQUOID & CO / NEW-YORK. / LITTLE WST 12TH ST.," circa 1870, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder, flared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt design of a lion's face with spotted beard and cheeks. Restoration to base. Restoration to rim on reverse. Restoration to reglued pieces on underside. Small chip on interior of rim beside a smaller glazed-over chip. A small, shallow chip and two minor on ledge on interior of rim where a lid would rest.
