Two Strasburg, VA Stoneware Jars, second half 19th century, a very rare, one-gallon cylindrical jar, impressed "KEISTER & SONNER / STRASBURG, VA," featuring the short-lived partnership mark of Samuel Sonner and Jeremiah and Cyrus Keister, circa 1866-1869; paired with a one-gallon cylindrical jar, stamped "J.H. SONNER / STRASBURG, VA," circa 1890. Keister & Sonner jar with rim chips, a 6 1/2" vertical crack on side, continuing a short distance onto underside where it forms a Y, two small base chips, and a horizontal hairline at base. J.H. Sonner jar with small rim chips and a salt drip to front.
