Two Pieces of Whites Utica Stoneware, New York State origin, third quarter 19th century, a one-gallon crock with cobalt fan-tailed bird decoration, stamped "WHITE UTICA NY," paired with a two-gallon jar with stylized cobalt foliate design, stamped "WHITES UTICA". Bird crock with large area on reverse where surface is beginning to flake, two hairlines from rim on reverse, a few chips to one handle, a chip to opposite handle, a reglued flake to rim, and a chip and wear to interior of rim. Foliate-decorated jar with a chip to end of one handle, two short lines and a nick to opposite handle, a 1 1/2" rim chip on reverse, a smaller rim chip, a 3 1/2" surface line on reverse, a small Y-shaped surface line at base on front, and small base nicks.
