Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Tulip Decoration, Stamped "L. NORTON & CO.," Bennington, VT origin, circa 1823-1833, ovoid jar with flared rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a brushed cobalt design of curving tulip blossom. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and handle terminals. Various tight surface lines, which do not extend through to interior. Loss to one handle. Two small rim chips and some tiny rim nicks.
