Auction Highlight: July 21, 2012 Auction
Rare Painted Redware Lamb Doorstop, attributed to J. Eberly & Co., Strasburg, VA, circa 1895, molded figure of a reclining lamb with closed eyes, covered in white paint. Underrated in rarity, the Eberly lamb doorstop is one of the quintessential Shenandoah Valley redware forms and a classic example of American folk art pottery. Paint wear and some wear to figure itself, including left ear. Shallow 1/2" chip to one hind foot. 4 3/4" and 3 3/4" in-the-firing separation lines on underside, which were at some point painted brown. Length 11 1/2".
