Four-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jug, Stamped "O.L. & A.K. BALLARD. / BURLINGTON, VT.," circa 1860, cylindrical jug with squared spout, decorated with a large slip-trailed flowering vine, featuring dots at the center of the blossom. Some bubbling to cobalt. 1 5/8" chip to spout. Some small, in-the-firing wrinkles in the clay at base on reverse. Shallow 5/8" chip to side of handle.
