Four-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Poughkeepsie, NY origin, circa 1860, cylindrical jar with sloped shoulder, rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a fan-tailed bird perched on a stylized branch. Includes heavily-damaged lid, not original to jar. 3 1/2" x 1" in-the-firing loss to base on reverse. Wear to interior of rim where a lid would rest. Faint 5" surface line on reverse. Stone ping near base on side of jar.
