Scarce One-Gallon "HENRY LENZ / ALLEGHENY CITY, PA" Stoneware Advertising Jar, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, cobalt-stenciled in several lines "HENRY LENZ / DEALER IN / FINE GROCERIES / 185 SPRING GARDEN / AVE. / ALLEGHENY CITY. PA." Shoulder and base decorated with cobalt stripes. Crisp stenciling on an unusual advertising piece. Near mint condition with a faint 1 3/4" vertical line on reverse, which extends up from base and likely occurred in the firing. H 10".
