Scarce Large-Sized Open-Handled Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK. JR / ATHENS. NY / GLOBE WORKS," circa 1845, approximately four to five gallon, ovoid jug with squared spout and open strap handles extending from the spout, decorated with a triple-stemmed plant design bearing a flower on the left stem, a bud at the center, and a second flower blossom or piece of fruit on the right. Exceptional and visually-appealing form. Excellent condition. Approximately 11" line extending up from base on reverse, which appears to be in the surface only as jug still rings true. Some in-the-firing wrinkles and fry to cobalt. Glazed-over base chip or dent on reverse. H 18 1/4".
