Open-Handled Stoneware Jar with Impressed Floral Decoration, attributed to Jonathan Fenton, Boston, MA, circa 1800, baluster-form jar with tooled shoulder squared rim, and open loop handles, decorated front and back with an impressed flower design brushed over in cobalt slip. Significant flaking to surface, some of which has been filled and colored. Lines around base, one of which extends into midsection of jar. Rim chips. In-the-firing residue on one side. Horizontal line in the end of one handle. H 12 3/8".
