Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Dated 1839, possibly Smith & Day, Norwalk, CT, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed floral design, a number 2, and the date 1839 in cobalt. As-made condition with in-the-firing contact marks on front and reverse and a small stone ping under one handle. H 10 1/2".
