Scarce One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Pheasant on Stump Decoration, Stamped "J. & E. NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT.," circa 1855, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of a pheasant with long tail and turned head, perched atop of tree stump. Excellent color on a desirable, small-sized jug. Near mint condition with two tiny nicks to spout. H 12 1/2".
