Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J. NORTON & CO / BENNINGTON, VT.," circa 1855, straight-sided crock with applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a long-tailed bird with crest, perched on a stylized branch. Hairlines on underside, extending onto base area of crock on front and back. Restoration to a top-to-bottom hairline on front of crock and a short hairline above each handle. H 9".
