Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Cake Crock with Lid, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1875, with tooled shoulder, squared rim, and applied handles, decorated front and back with a brushed cobalt floral design. Includes lid, which was made in Baltimore, but is not original to the crock, is decorated with daubs of cobalt along the edge. Crock is stamped "3" and lid is stamped "2". Sealed Y-shaped hairline on crock, extending 6" up one side and 2" up opposite side. Significant chipping to one handle. Rim chips. Lid with glazed-over edge chip. H (of crock) 7 1/2" ; Diameter (of crock) 13 1/4".
