Very Rare Slip-Decorated Redware Book, Impressed "LIFE OF WASHINGTON / VOL. II," probably PA origin, mid 19th century, with raised binding and borders, profusely-decorated with manganese sponging on the covers and spine, along with cream-colored slip on the borders and pages. Highly unusual form, likely made to decorated a shelf or possibly used as a doorstop. Some chips to edges. Light wear elsewhere. H 6 1/2" ; L 4 1/8".
