Extremely Rare 1794 Maryland Fraktur with Elaborate Bird, Heart, and Flowering Urn Decorations, Signed "Henry Hetherington / Drawer & Designer," watercolor and ink on paper, bearing the inscription "Unto these two parents as John & Barbary Albright was born a Daughter on the 24th Day of April in the Year of our Lord 1794 and was bapticed by the name of Mary by the Reverend. . . in the State of Maryland / Henry Hetherington / Drawer & Designer". This inscription is flanked by a large parrot atop a flowering plant extending from an urn on the left, and a second urn with tulip plant on the right. Additional urn with tulip and heart with eye to the right. Flowers surrounded by cartouche at top. Designs colored green, yellow, red, and blue. Additional German writing at midsection and base. Examples of fraktur from the State of Maryland are very unusual. Provenance: Consigned from Florida. Framed. Glued at the corners to a cardboard backer. Tear to one corner. Fold marks and a few minor tears along fold at midsection. Some staining. Unframed Dimensions: 15" x 12 3/4".
