Back to Virginia Stoneware |
Item #RVKJ01 |

| Description: |
3 groups of bright cobalt blue swags decorate the top part of this 2 gallon crock. An important piece of Virginia stoneware. Very rare potter's mark--one of the rarest of Virginia marks. Parr was a member of the prolific Baltimore, MD, Parr family of potters. An entry in the 1860 Richmond City Directory establishes the firm's existence during that year, just before the Civil War. The partnership apparently lasted only a short time and this piece was made c1860. |
