Rare Early Stoneware Rundlet (Small Keg) |
||||
Back to New York, New Jersey & New England Stoneware |
Item #NYX01 |
|||
| Description: |
American stoneware small kegs, or rundlets, such as this one, are difficult to find. Most were made in the early 19th century and this one is no exception. This rundlet is small, holding only 1 ½ pints, and is nicely made with deeply incised rings covered with cobalt blue. Its bung hole is expertly formed and retains an old and possibly original cork. It was made in the 1st quarter of the 19th century with strong attribution to New York City or possibly New Jersey. |
