Description:

This stoneware handled vessel probably served as a chamber pot. It was found in the Rockingham County area of the Shenandoah Valley. Judging by the color of its clay, the pot was probably made there, some time circa 1850 to 1880. Interesting, slightly crooked handle with some ribbing to it. Incised line at the shoulder and protruding, flange-like rim. A rare stoneware form.

Size:

6 ½" tall.

Condition:

Circumferential lines around base. Kiln residue on handle.
