Two Pieces of Stoneware, Cornwall, NY origin, circa 1840, a two-gallon ovoid jug with wing-shaped foliate motif flanking a freehand "2", paired with a four-gallon crock with floral motif below a freehand "4", additionally stamped "4" below rim. Provenance: A fresh-to-the-market lot, purchased by the consignor decades ago. Jug with 7 1/4" crack on side, extending 2 1/4" onto underside, where it forms a Y, as well as 1 3/4" hairline from spout on reverse, a crack through base of handle, and minor wear to interior of spout. Jar in excellent condition with a chip to interior of rim.
