Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Northeastern U.S. origin, circa 1830, ovoid jar with heavily-tooled shoulder and ribbed lug handles, decorated with a brushed design of a large flower with wreath-like brushwork emanating from the base of its stem. Brushed cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Provenance: Collection of Harry Meyer, McDonald, PA. Heavy chipping to rim. Water glass staining to surface. A 3/4" in-the-firing surface chip under one handle.
