Unusual Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Dated 1893, Stamped "ATHENS POTTERY. N.Y", 1893, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with two brushed tulips flanking the date 1893. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. An unusual example of Northeastern salt-glazed stoneware made shortly before the close of the 19th century. Minor chips on interior of rim. Faint 1" hairline on side of crock. A minor chip to one handle.
