Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Brushed Cobalt and Incised Tulip Decorations, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1840, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and squared rim, decorated with three large brushed tulips extending around the shoulder. Front of jar includes the highly unusual addition of a 2 1/2" incised design of a two-stemmed tulip plant. Significant glued cracks throughout, including flakes along crack lines.
