Rare Rockingham-Glazed Fire Engine Pitcher, Stamped "A. CADMUS / CONGRESS POTTERY / SOUTH AMBOY / N. JERSEY," New Jersey origin, mid 19th century, with hound-form handle, decorated with a streaked reddish-brown glaze, featuring a relief design of firemen with fire engine around the body and a grape vine motif around the collar. Underside with Abraham Cadmus maker's mark. Very nice condition with some light surface wear, a thin 1 3/8", in-the-firing contact mark to shoulder, and two minor spout chips. H (to top of handle) 9 1/4".
