Two-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Large Bird Decoration, Stamped "W. ROBERTS / BINGHAMTON, N.Y.," circa 1870, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-squared rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with folky slip-trailed design of a bird with spotted body and fan-shaped tail, perched in a morning glory vine. Some fry to cobalt. Chip to back end of one handle along with a small nick to front end. Light surface wear to the ends of opposite handle. A small chip and a minor nick on interior of rim. Base chip on reverse.
