Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "WHITES UTICA," NY State origin, circa 1865, cylindrical jug with sloped shoulder and semi-squared rim, decorated with a slip-trailed bird with fan-shaped tail, perched on a stylized branch. Crack at base, continuing onto underside. 1 1/2" base chip and a smaller base chip. Small contact mark to shoulder and reverse. Fry to cobalt.
