Very Rare Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Stenciled Cobalt Decoration, Stamped "F.H. COWDEN / HARRISBURG, PA," circa 1880, finely-potted pitcher with ovoid body and tall flaring collar, the front decorated with a large stenciled geometric design below the F.H. Cowden maker's mark. Rare form and size. Provenance: From a thirty-five-year North Carolina collection. Small chip on left side of rim. 3" crack to right side of rim. Some bubbling to cobalt on right side of decoration.
