Early Stoneware Jug with Impressed Clamshell Decoration, Stamped "COMMERAWS / STONEWARE," Manhattan, NY origin, circa 1810, ovoid jug with rounded foot and heavily-tooled neck, decorated with an impressed "clamshell" motif surrounded by impressed tassels. Below the decoration are the impressed words "COMMERAWS / STONEWARE." Decoration and mark highlighted in cobalt. A good example of early New York stoneware. As-made condition. H 13".
