Two Iron-Decorated Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jars, English or American origin, early 19th century, a small ovoid jar with inset rim for lid, decorated with a dipped iron glaze, probably English; the other a larger ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and iron glaze, English or American. Both found in Virginia, the larger similar to examples by John Swann of Alexandria, VA, circa 1815. Smaller jar with base chip, wear to interior of rim, and contact mark on shoulder. Larger jar with rim chip and crazing to surface and underside. H 10 1/4".
