Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Butter Crock with Lid, attributed to the Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1865, with large ribbed handles and heavily-tooled shoulder, decorated with cobalt fan-shaped flowers extending from a leafy stem. Cobalt chain links brushed under each handle. Includes a recessed Albany slip and salt glazed lid. Though this style of lid is atypical of the Remmeys, the clay color appears to be Remmey. Crock with rim chips, chipping to base, chips to one handle, and hairlines to underside. Some chips to lid. H (including lid) 5" ; Diameter 8 1/2".
