Extremely Rare Glazed Redware Handled Jar, Stamped "HEART & CROFT," Chambersburg, PA, circa 1870, ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, rounded rim, and thick, rounded handle, covered in a lead glaze over an orange ground. Impressed with the extremely rare maker's mark "HEART & CROFT," inverted near the base. This mark was used during the partnership of potters, J.M. Heart and David Croft, circa 1870. Few signed examples have survived. Near mint condition with a short, in-the-firing separation line at top of handle. Also an in-the-making incised slash to surface. H 5".
