Glazed Redware "SUGAR LEAD" Jar with Rouletted Decoration, attributed to Jacob Heart, Chambersburg, PA, circa 1840, straight-sided jar with tooled foot and two raised shoulder moldings with rouletted hash mark decorations, its surface decorated with streaked manganese and covered in a clear lead glaze. The words "SUGAR LEAD" are painted in a banner across the front, indicating what the jar held. Shallow rim chips. Otherwise mint condition. H 9".
