Rare Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Frog Inkwell, Incised "Anna Pottery / 1882," made by Wallace and Cornwall Kirkpatrick, Anna, IL, molded figure of a frog decorated with cobalt stripes and spots, seated on a clamshell with circular opening near base for dipping pen. Circumference of opening decorated with cobalt brush strokes, creating a design reminiscent of a flowerhead. Additional cobalt brushwork along edge of clamshell. Underside incised "Anna Pottery / 1882". A visually-striking example. Mint condition. H 3".
