Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird on Branch Decoration, Stamped "SEYMOUR & BOSWORTH / HARTFORD," CT origin, circa 1871-1890, cylindrical crock with semi-squared rim and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with a bird perched on a branch, its cobalt-filled head featuring an incised circular eye. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 6 1/4" diagonal line from rim on front. A 5 3/4" rim chip on reverse. Five rim chips of various sizes. An in-the-firing iron ping to shoulder. Some fry to cobalt. Some faint staining. Minor chipping to underside at edge. H 13".
