Two Stoneware Cream Risers, NC origin, second half 19th century, an Albany-slip-glazed example with rare "E.A. POE / FAYETTEVILLE, NC" maker's mark, paired with a two-gallon salt-glazed example with coggled capacity mark, stamped "J.D. CRAVEN," Randolph and Moore Counties. Poe cream riser with a 3 1/2" reglued section at rim with additional chips, a shallow chip to top of rim, a shallow chip to interior of rim, some minor in-the-firing contact marks to interior of rim, and some whitish residue to surface. Craven cream riser with a 5 1/2" restored section to rim, a long, partially-restored inverted Y-shaped crack ascending from base, and rim chips. Dimensions (of larger): H 8 1/2" ; Diam. 11 1/4".
