Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Advertising Canning Jars, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1875, both of tapered form with inner "wax sealer" rims, both decorated with similar freehand stripes and stenciled with the advertising. One stenciled "I. SAYRE & SON. / DEALERS IN / GENERAL / MERCHANDISE / EVANS, W. VA" and the other stenciled "GRAHAM & STONE. / GEN'. MERCHANDISE. / JACKSON C.H. / W. VA." Both with imperfections including rim chips, surface wear, and firing flaws. Evans jar with circumferential crack at base extending around majority of jar then upwards 3". Jackson C. H. jar with top-to-bottom crack at left of stencil. H (of tallest) 9 7/8".
