Two Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jars with WV Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875-1880, both of tapering form with rounded "wax sealer" rims, one stenciled "E.R. McCUCIN. / STOVES, / TINWARE. / RAVENSWOOD., W.Va," the other stenciled "GRAHAM & STONE.. / GEN'. MERCHANDISE, / JACKSON C.H. / W. VA." Smaller with a long sealed crack extending from shoulder to underside on reverse, a 1 1/4" flake to top of rim, and small chips to interior of rim. Larger with a 5 1/2" inverted Y-shaped crack from rim, a 1" chip and wear to inner wax sealer rim, heavy chipping and wear to interior of rim, an extensive tight spider crack in underside extending onto areas of base, and a 2" in-the-firing chip to bottom edge. H (of smaller) 8 1/2".
