Scarce Three-Gallon Salt-Glazed Stoneware Jar, Stamped "W N CRAVEN," Randolph County, NC, mid 19th century, wide-bodied, ovoid jar with flattened rim and applied strap handles, impressed at the shoulder with William Nicholas Craven maker's mark below a three-gallon capacity mark. Salt-glazed surface with heavier concentration to the rim and upper body. A 5" x 2 3/4" broken and reglued section extending from underside to base. This damage includes a 1 3/4" chip to underside at edge, additional chipping along the reglued section, and a few cracks extending off from the reglued section. Otherwise excellent condition. H 12".
